Sights on the Street

You will see some interesting things as you drive around in Paraguay. People carrying things on their head...people pushing carts...anything.

How's My Driving?

I was on my way to work one morning and happened to see this truck which had aparently run right into a person's front yard. Not sure what the story was, but pretty amazing. The sign on the back of te truck says "for bad driving call..." I wonder if anyone called it in?

Lactolanda

Lactolanda is a dairy company founded by one of the mennonite colonies in Paraguay. One of their stores is located about and hour outside of Ciudad del Este. You can buy any of their dairy products here as well as their yummy soft serve ice cream! When traveling to and from CDE we make it a priority to stop by and see what flavors they are serving. It's a little strange to see so much blond hair and blue eyes for a change.

Signs of Summer

I went walking at Nuguazu Park this week to enjoy the beautiful summer weather. There were children practicing soccer and I noticed their collection of thermoses. The kids probably thought I was crazy for taking pictures of their thermoses, but I couldn't help myself.

Backyard

Some other sights in my backyard right now.

Backyard in the Summer

My backyard is full of mangos. Not just a few mangos, but LOTS of mangos. We have two large mango trees, and they are the smaller national variety that are difficult to eat due to the high percent of fibers they have. Most people just use them for mango juice. Needless to say, they are piling up quickly. They are dropping almost as fast as we can shovel them up.

My neighbor on the other hand has a large Brazilian mango tree that is full of fat juicy mangos...the kind you can bite into and have the juice run down your chin. I keep hoping that there will be a strong wind blow some over into my yard.
